Overview
We made this video as part of a series of videos about God's character and is based on Psalm 139. This one focuses on the fact that God made us and knows everything about us! And even though we probably don't want God to know our every thought, God still loves us and wants to know YOU personally!
Bible Study and Talk Ideas
Below are some ideas of what you could do for a Bible study or talk connected with this video. Obviously, you will need to tailor things to your context with your local knowledge of the group you will be working with. We initially wrote this sketch to fit with Psalm 139 so that is the obvious Bible passage to go with this sketch. You could also use it with any passage that talks about about God creating us and knowing us.
Bible Study Ideas
- List all the things that you think no one knows about you - and then link to God knowing all of them before they even wrote them down
- Draw a picture of yourself (for the younger ones) and link that to God knowing exactly what they look like
- Write some questions about yourself and get your friends to test themselves to see how well they know you (like Eric's Mastermind quiz in the video)
- Is there anywhere you can go, or anything you can do that God does not know about?
- How does it make you feel that God made you and knows you completely?
- Why does it matter that God knows everything about you (good and bad!) but still loves you?
- How should we respond to God's amazing love?
- A picture of you in a heart. You could write lots of things you like and dislike around the picture of you (but within the heart) to show how God knows everything about you but still loves you.
- You could print Psalm 139 out and then decorate it. Then you could put it up when you get home and when you look at it remember that God made, knows and loves you.
Talk Ideas
- Psalm 139
- Use the words of the Psalm to really show how much God knows everything about us - He even knew us before we were born!
- Even though God knows everything about us (more than Polly knows about Jack!) which is the good and the bad - He still loves us completely and wants us to be in relationship with Him
- Could then show how Jesus' death on the cross is the ultimate sign of that love
