Below are some ideas of what you could do for a Bible study or talk connected with this video. Obviously, you will need to tailor things to your context with your local knowledge of the group you will be working with.
You'll find the story of the passover lamb in Exodus 11-12. You could then use a passage from the New Testament about the passover, the lamb of God, or Jesus' death on the cross.
Bible Study Ideas
- You could play Piggy in the Middle to introduce the idea of 'passing over'
- Have some pictures that relate to a given event and ask what event they point towards (e.g. an olympic torch points towards the olympic games, or a runner and a picture of London points to the London marathon). This can then be used to show how the passover lamb in Exodus points towards Jesus' death on the cross
- You could have a set of rescuers and situations. They have to match the rescuer to the situation (e.g. firefighter with the fire)
- Who saved the Israelites?
- How do Jesus and the passover lamb relate?
- What does it mean for Jesus to be the lamb of God?
- What does this story tell us about God's big plan throughout history?
- Why do we need rescuing and how does Jesus do this?
- Draw a picture of the situation (broken relationship with God) and how Jesus rescues us from it (the cross and empty grave)
- Decorate two paper plates - one with a sheep and one with a cross. Cut the sheep plate in half from top to bottom and place it on top of the cross plate. Attach all the plates together at the bottom with a single split pin so that when the sheep plates are moved apart you see the cross behind
Talk Ideas
- Can show how God's big salvation plan plays out through history and how Jesus was planned all along and not just a big mistake
- Depending on the texts being used you could explain what it means for Jesus to be the lamb of God
- What do we learn about God's character as a God who saves?
- Could link in to communion/Lords supper
